Wine and theology are both intimidating topics.
We make them fun.
People seem to feel about as much anxiety in front of a wine list as they do when the Bishop quizzes them at Confirmation. Yikes. At our events, we address this upfront and break the ice with a fun atmosphere that rewards audience participation and gets everyone engaged and having a blast. We are here to taste, learn, laugh, and be inspired by faith and wine.

Why Catholic Wine?
Wine is beautifully woven throughout Catholic history, scripture, theology, liturgy, tradition, and culture. In many ways, the history of wine is the history of the Catholic Church - that realization started catholicwine.com.
Our content and events offer catechesis, history, faith formation, and marriage enrichment through wine experiences and knowledge.
Popular Tastings
Highlighting the beauty and theology of marriage, couples taste wines that put them at the wedding feast at Cana, illustrate the covenant theology of marriage through the holy trinity of Rhone grapes, and inspire hope for new chapters in life with Champagne and the méthode champenoise.
Vines & Vows
The history of the church in five bottles.
Taste history through middle eastern wines made with methods from the time of Christ, discover the region famous for papal drama and powerful reds, and be inspired by the wine at the heart of the Eucharistic miracle that brought about Panis Angelicus, the Tantum Ergo, and the Feast of Corpus Christi.

Wine is integral to salvation history and the theology of the Church.
The history of wine is the history of the Catholic Church. For over 2000 years, wine has been overwhelmingly influenced by the Church.
Each wine poured at our event is paired with a story and beautiful visuals connecting a significant place, moment, history, theology, or lesson from our faith.
Presented by Dan Harms
Since 2005 I’ve spoken and performed for Catholic audiences in 46 states and seven countries as a speaker, musician, and emcee. In my full time ministry, I work for a Catholic Diocese in Virginia in the Office for Evangelization overseeing marriage, family and life ministries. For twenty years I have studied, researched, and collected wine with a particular focus on the overlap between wine and the Catholic Church.
FAQs

We give send you a list of blind tasting supplies, digital files of tasting note worksheets, promotional graphics, and a list of best practices for the event.
We work with local wine shops and suppliers to source the wine and come out a day ahead to make sure everything is prepped and ready for service.
-
We regularly run tastings for groups of up to 120 attendees but we can certainly go larger. A best practice is to aim for tables of ten to twelve people. At that size, each table gets their own bottles and service becomes really simple.
-
If we are serving five wines and attendees are seated in groups of ten, we advise budgeting $15/person. At that price point we can serve quality examples of each wine with one or two wines north of $40/bottle.
-
Generally a five wine tasting event with dinner takes just under two hours.
